Agree with you, I am engineer and the average people will not see how important philosophy is for AI adoption in society. A simple example, thanks to philosophy the society has regulations coming from human ethics (philosophy), if AI LLM is not controlled by regulations or by a simple line of ethics (by their own authors of AI companies) we could have AI saying to everyone how to kill yourself easily and no suffering with a simple combination of commercial medicine, or how to mix chemical substances to build a homemade bomb. Nowadays AI says “we are reasoning” and it never will happen, AI emulates reasoning, thanks to philosophy humans will keep the reasoning to differentiate between a “tree” and the “plastic tree”.
