You kinda have it backwards in that you think ethics shape society when really society shapes ethics. We live in a society where legalized slavery still exists right under our noses, so expecting consumers to find the most “ethical” products is approaching the problem from the wrong end. The systems we live under need to fundamentally change for our relationships to be less cruel. You dont even need ethics to understand why this stuff is bad. It harms the majority of humanity, the majority of humanity should protect themselves and take power from that minority which currently holds power and has no qualms about the negative effects of AI or any of the daily struggles of working people.
