Honestly, that's a very good point. All these chatbots and slop machines are basically tripping over themselves in complimenting their user and being the most politest things in the universe to their every query, jumping at their prompts and providing endless paragraphs of text, endless stream of images to prompts... and never once telling the user, "wait, that's stupid, what the hell, this is dumb, this doesn't work."
That's not how reality works. If an art piece doesn't work out, others will tell you (or let you know through indifference). If your writing is bad, you'll know (or face indifference). If your maths or science is bad, YOU WILL KNOW because people will get hurt because of it.
The chatbots just coddle the user like an overbearing mother. "Who's my most precious, talented, best boy? Yes you are, yes you are" may as well be added to the end of every prompt, because that's all the "tool" does. It gives its user the illusion of being good at something, and these slop enjoyers bask in this glow of fake competence and expect everyone to continue to coddle them the same way.
What is universal to all creatives, however, is extreme, deep, critical self-doubt. It stems from the necessity to develop observational skills and be able to tell what in their work doesn't work and needs fixing. It's why all accomplished artists will go through benders of crippling anxiety and self-doubt, even though to the casual observer, their work is incredible - because the artist themselves are too far deep into observation and critique that they see layers of flaws the vast majority of people do not. Because every part of their work is the result of a decision - to put that detail there, to not erase it, to add to it. And we don't see the endless remains of what was cast aside.
AI stuff doesn't do that. There is nothing removed, the tech is incapable of editing its own output - it can only prompt again and again, in hopes that this time the dice will roll and provide the output the user wants. There is no intention, no choice - only what piece of an already existing image is randomly pulled from the dataset and put into the resulting image. And so, whenever I see some AI image that looks kinda cool, my sole thought is "huh, I wonder which artists this was pulled from, I want to follow them."
