Your imagination is failing you. i'm an artist i handmade a motorcycle, save for the engine, I weld, do photography, do leatherwork, can use patterns to make clothes, made my leather jacket, do woodwork, woodcarving, lathe turning, make sculpture from clay i clean myself out of a creekbed I know... I can forge a blade, work kydex, gunsmith, set tile, roof, do plumbing, sweat pipe, weld, pour sand castings, paint...like automotive paint, solder and wire electronics, draw a bit, draft a blueprint, write stories, run an online store, make fireworks, make ink from oak galls, among many many other things that took a loooong time to master. I decided i wanted to make comic books...so instead of mastering that one more skill of drawing by hand (which by chance I was never great at) or begging a corporation for money to fund hiring someone.. I just learned to use generative AI. now i do every single part of my own comic books by myself, from idea, to finished, printed, marketed sold product...a pure artistic vision... to do this, I handbuilt a computer for the task, learned Git, learned python environments and command line code, learned to install a local generation GUI, then learned to write prompts, train checkpoints, operate photoshop....I select and form my generations until i get exactly what unreal thing i see in my minds eye...into the real world. like any other artist. so where are you getting this idea, that you know anything about what it actually looks like...when an artistic person, decides to use these tools? hmmm? cause i would bet nearly every single thing about your life is storebought, every thing about your personality is cobbled together from something someone else told you. the smug arrogance with which you just painted the "most hardcore AI artist" is really something. there are alot of people that casually use these tools on some online website to generate quick slop...that is true enough. so what? the fact it never occurred to you that people who's talent and breadth of knowledge about art and creativity might floor you...and that they still might choose to adopt these tools and use them to potentiate their skills, or fill one gap in their talents....is rather embarrassing. artists don't sit around and think about the bounds of their limits, they break and bend them. why wouldn't someone like me prefer to learn to use this tool, instead of stopping everything else their doing, to go hire someone, who I then have to pay and chase around and prompt anyway. i think the most anti-AI people are marginally talented people who are so busy not mastering anything at all...that it doesnt occur to them what actual artists even look like. maybe they don't have the same bias as you towards novel technologies. I wish i could paint eternal symphonies out into space with modulated Xrays for future extraterrestrials with senses that can hear my electromagnetic radiation. but that technology doesn't exist yet and the audience may never arrive from alpha centauri. but of i did it, it would still be my art, because i am an artist...and i'd rather be the guy making comic books and shooting rays into the sky for inscrutable purpose... then occupy myself with the most pathetic possible pastime....being an art critic
