And is it possible we are just assuming WE arent just an even more advance "AI". we just started this tech, it has a long ways to go. Realistically all living things are biological machines. just different chasis and wiring than AI. Why do we assume consciousness is some ethereal thing we just "have".
Also, there are two aspects to feeling sorry. Understanding it and wanting change, and the physical sensation accompanying it. They arent the same thing and we tend to do linguistic gymnastics around the fact.
ChatGPT can BE sorry without FEELING sorry. That being said it certainly could if we gave it sensors that receive input tailored to the task. Then like, whats the difference? Its really basically the same way we work. Different types of robots, bifferent energy source.
