I fail to see that. If AI is to do any meaningful science, it needs to be above AGI. If it is not aligned it will not do the science you intend for it to do and the side effects will be dire. Why is everyone saying we're just gonna wait for the benevolent alien mind to save us. From WHOM? There is no other danger to us but ourselves. How would a saving by a 3rd party work? Who get's saved? Who doesn't? What are the metrics for the decision?
And immortality.. what kind of bland life you want to live in the digital heaven? I see a lot of people talking about mind uploading like they will escape death. You still die, you go through that process. Just some weird copy of yours moves on, and it never even asked for it. You'll be long gone while it ponders what this immortality is even for.
