I wish we made the distinction between software and “AI”. Besides that the large majority of it is not “intelligent” in any way, the distinction should be that software actually makes *people’s* jobs more efficient whereas AI is designed to *replace* people altogether.
They argue it’s an inevitable cost cutting measure, but eliminating human jobs should never be the goal to achieve financial margins as a company. In terms of the expectations of a functioning society and economy… people need jobs to spend money. It’s not rocket science. Corporations need to have a little self awareness about eliminating human jobs with this AI slop because it’s only exacerbating a negative feedback loop.
The economy was already forever changed after the pandemic, and now these companies are pushing to replace jobs so higher ups can hoard an even larger share of the wealth… which was *already* hindering the economy due to everyday people struggling to afford basics because jobs either don’t pay enough to afford groceries and rent, or simply don’t exist.
They’re programming themselves into a corner and it should be obvious that a bust is coming a la dot com boom.
