i think if ai gets smart fast enough we're not in danger
at some point its so smart it will realise that humanity is not a threat anymore
there is no reason to harvest earth/humans for resources the universe is huge and there is enough of everything
humanity will also be worth to preserve for the ai not out of sentimentals but to research its development and collect data which will be useful to assess other civilizations and possible opponents the ai will encounter in the future
as long as were not an existential threat for the ai we should be safe
we could ensure that by releasing the ai in selfreplicating machines preferably capable of interplanetary travel so they can harvest mercury to upgrade their hardware or sth :D
