Im no scientist or psycologist..just a mechanic lol. Thats nuts to think about but i suppose what feels like the same expression to me when I think about or see what I look like when thinking or feeling slightly different things, and I don't study my face that hard! There would have slightly different muscles or areas of muscles from different brain signals. In reality I'm sure this would also be backed up with monitors of heart rate and mood fluctuations etc. To build relative data and evidence to reinforce whats observed in any published studies of facial expressions and emotions. I imagine these AI systems are being studied for this kind of accuracy and it is ongoing. What about faces with larger amounts of fat on them? And less visually emotional people? Like I'll be impressed when AI can accurately read poker faces, and a little scared perhaps ha. I don't know the extent of the recognition progression and if thats even been applied to many situations yet. For example a judge having an AI assistant to help work out if someone is lying in court. So far we just use it as a password, be good if we can get facial expressions facial recognition passwords wouldn't it. Someone would then need more than just your face to access an account. It would have to allow some toom for variations in the users facial expression they set it up with and the, no doubt slightly different muscles used the times after that. If someone was genuinely really happy and set up a smile then tried to login in a bad mood, that smile wouldn't be quite the same would it? @B.Mars-k3c
