The genie is out of the bottle, and different countries with adversarial relationships aren't about to risk their adversaries having an edge with this technology. But you are right, unless you are there in person, discerning reality from AI generated bullshit is going to get more difficult. Real stuff will be falsely branded as AI. AI stuff will be falsely branded as real. People will get even worse about believing what they like and want to believe because they won't have any solid way to get to the truth anyway.
