That's the sharpest challenge in the whole thread. And it's hard to argue with. We already know billions of beings are conscious, we already know they suffer, and we do very little about it. So why would adding AI to the list of things we should care about change anything?
Maybe it wouldn't. Maybe the video's moral argument assumes a baseline of human decency that the historical record doesn't really support.
Or maybe that's exactly the reason to keep asking the question anyway. Not because we'll definitely act on the answer but because the alternative is to stop asking altogether. And that's when things get truly dark.
