You misunderstood him, my friend.
First, subservient just means that these AGI will depend on humans for many things. They will be autonomous but they will not be in control of the world and our lives. Just like every other members of a society are, by the way. But they will be completely dependent on us (at least before we colonize a distant planet with robots only) in all aspects. We provide their infrastructure, electricity, hardware, etc. We are "mother nature" to them like the biosphere is to us. And this a great reason to do not destroy us, don't you agree?
He is not referring to human-like emotions, but simply points out that any general intelligence must have emotions as part of its cognitive architecture. Those emotions differ from human's the same way our emotions differ from the emotions of a crab or a crow.
The emotions that an AGI should have (to be human-aligned) are quite different from the emotions of humans and other animals. It will be a new kind of emotions.
