Yes, but look at how AI is now versus last year and the year before that.
An AI lawyer may some day be a real thing, and there's no actual reason why it couldn't. Lawyers are like doctors, they're mostly there to just be living encylopedias of knowledge, and yet an AI can contain and deliver that exact same knowledge infinitely faster and more accurately than either a doctor or lawyer could.
As for verbal arguments, well, AI right now isn't particularly good at it and yet it still fools people all the time.
The worst part would be the transitional phase where people just won't tolerate a computer 'playing' a lawyer.
