that’s why AI is an exciting prospect - accessibility can be a great thing. but I think this comment misses the point. AI developers are using artists’ work to generate profit for themselves without giving any share of the profit or even credit to the artists, despite the fact that their work was essential to create the program. it’s like if a manufacturing company didn’t pay their suppliers. plus, it pushes artists out of their own market and threatens their livelihoods since they can’t create art at the same rate.
having the accessibility to efficiently generate art would be wonderful! but we need to slow down and work out how to do it ethically, without exploiting and harming the artists whose work underpins the industry.
