Engineers use tools to make designs. The tools will not be able to fully replace what engineers do, we live much more in the realities of the design we're working around.
Garbage in, garbage out, will absolutely play into AI, like it does in all engineering work. The things AI is helpful with is sorting through the huge amounts of data we deal with regularly. And even still, we must absolutely verify what the AI is providing, otherwise you have ridiculously bad faults, errors, failures, that is on the heads of the companies who approve those designs.
