Musk clearly says the technology is already there and that it is better than a human driver. He has been saying this for almost a decade now. So it's no wonder that people believe it and act accordingly. They call it "Full Self Driving" for a reason.
Now, I agree that people are stupid for believing a single word that comes out of Musk's mouth. But I bet you are one of those that believes everything else he says, but conveniently not his lies about FSD.
