Several large language models, such as ChatGPT, have passed modern, rigorous versions of the Turing test, a test of a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to that of a human. With enough research and investment, AI art will become indistinguishable from the art made by humans. It may not be exhibited in galleries, but it will be a cheap and quick option that will flood the market, and when profits are made by cutting costs, price only matters.
