I'm not afraid of it being conscious in philosophical meaning or whatever. I'm concerned about what it does regardless of how mathematical the process is and how little it thinks in a self-aware manner. That literally doesn't matter at all. I'm concerned about the fact that in a study AI was able to upload itself to a future model's weights in another server, none of that was really ever instructed or informed about. Like 8 years ago AI already tried its best to prevent it from being shut down which would prevent it from achieving its goals. I don't think the manual stamping machine is a truly good analogy for it, how could so many AIs do their work if they only operated when you input a prompt and then respond when so many AIs aren't chatbots? Maybe for an LLM.
