I'm not speaking for everyone.
For me being against AI is the equal as being against humanity's well being. The net benefit of us having the capability to digitalize human intellect is far too powerful. All you have to do is look at the Neural scaling law. Many people are still in the denial stage of the exponential progress. Even w/o any kind of future technological progress from today onward, we still can reach ASI. The Pandora's Box is open.
Right now the latest edge (as far as I know) is that models have the capability to reason in a latent space, just like humans. 'Scaling up Test-Time Compute with Latent Reasoning: A Recurrent Depth Approach' is the referenced paper.
