You should check out "AI Safety Info". The most important concept you might be missing is instrumental convergence, which Yud hypothesized and which was later mathematically proven (paper "Optimal Policies Tend To Seek Power") and then directly observed many times in current models.
In general, if you create something broadly more capable than humans, and you don't know how to control it or design it to care about humans, then it will care about something else, and it will be able to do as much of that thing as it wants. This, on its own, renders humanity redundant and powerless, as the AI consumes all available resources and disempowers humanity to prevent humanity from disempowering it. We either go extinct quickly because it destroys us outright, or slowly, as our resources are consumed.
