@Zurround if you took your original comment and removed the leading "If" then your statement would have been correct. It's a toaster. The same way your smart phone, computer and tablet are nothing but toasters. People create objects. They are appliances to help us live easier lives. Even your computer based tech is nothing more than glorified letter writing device. We largely use the device to communicate with people we have never met nor will ever meet...like we are doing now. But very very few people use the full power of computers to make their lives genuinely better. That is because ignorance reigns supreme. You have fallen into the trap of believing in tech as the ultimate and mysterious black plastic box. It does wondrous things...but you don't know how they are designed, the engineering principles applied, the underlying physics etc. Moreover you know nothing about programming. Nor do have an understanding of what AI is in practical terms. I agree, you are not an expert. But you immediately jumped to sentience when I am quite sure you have no idea what that means from a scientific point if view. You could learn these things. The internet is at your disposal. But you'd have to understand that the source material you'd be able to choose from will be littered with content like this. Fake people crafting fake stories to get clicks. People like this are trying to become "influencers" by influencing you to believe they have their finger on the next big thing...they were their first...and there's a lot of money on the line if they can pull it off. But to do so they will say anything. He had on another "scientist" who spoke about AI. He also believes in lizard people. Great. The only way you can arbitrate between reality and fiction is by increasing your understanding of things. And here's a starting lesson: a delusional person can come across as honest and sincere...because, in their mind, they are. That doesn't mean they are correct. It only means they appear genuine.
