@BaconCrackle Just like humans, it relies on the results of other people's activities.
AI does not steal art; it analyzes and reproduces certain patterns for further reproduction. Technically, it “loaded an image into the program” and set the AI to learn how to recreate it. Well, in the case of humans, it's the same thing: a person sits down and first redraws in someone else's style, gradually adding additional patterns (including those of other artists) until they develop their own style.
AI is the same tool as a “brush,” “tablet,” “Photoshop,” and “human hands,” which require a person to control them, but the process is slightly different and requires different skills to control.
But cases of accurate reproduction of artists' works using AI are another matter, although I do not accept “theft” in relation to intangible objects at all; “copying” is more appropriate (but then “demonizing” AI, right?), it is not only a “bad deed,” but also useless (who needs a copy if there is an original), but creating similar content only increases the choice for consumers, without replacing the works it imitates (and certainly without taking away the artist's drawing skills and style). Well, maybe it can take away the “feeling of uniqueness and importance,” but that's not about “art” anymore, it's about “the sin of pride.”
