There are some well known psychologists working on developing AI/LLM models for helping patients at the same time as proposing guard rails for AI in general.
The current interactive psychology support systems that i’ve seen so far very much fall into the scripted response model.
- allowing free dialogue input by the user which the LLM the matches to a pre-scripted response.
- the model uses the scripted responses to steer the conversation into following a playbook.
- the feedback from users so far has been incredibly good, and has been helping in psychology emergency management.
