Much of the creativity, and most of the skill involved. And the skill which is still involved in summoning AI art from the robocollective unconscious is (as far as I can tell) a *lot* less interesting and expressive than the skills that go into, ya know, doodlin', or imagining things. (Or, intentionally constructing art from ideas and the collective unconscious. ...But most of my experience is with doodlin', or imagining things.) I don't entirely begrudge people for using AI tools to create "novel" (pseudo-novel) images. I used to use Photoshop filters to make weird surreal images and patterns, and the amount of skill involved there was fairly limited (there were lots of lens flares). Think taking pictures of celebrities and giving them glowing red eyes. In retrospect, if I had stopped there, it would be a little silly to say that I was a visual artist. (And I still don't say that I'm a visual artist - I say that I've done some visual arts, or dabbled in visual arts, and that I've enjoyed it.) I ABSOLUTELY begrudge anyone using it to get out of paying artists, *especially* if they're trying to then make money off of using tools which are fundamentally built off of the work of (notably uncompensated) artists.
