I think it's all to reduce the salaries. You make people jump through more hoops when getting hired, making sure they're more desperate. Put in unrealistic requirements into online job ads which you are most likely required by law to make even though you have an internal hire in mind or someone outsourced. And many jobs are indeed going to get replaced by automation, and soon. I don't believe there's a shortage of workers either, the education is just attained by more people and there's a greater supply of both qualified and unqualified people. There's also migration and outsourcing. There's a reason why the billionaires are freaking out about the dropping birth rates, there will be fewer people for them to exploit. Even if we were to bring the entirety of the Global South into the first world, the dynamic won't change, the birth rates are dropping even there. The whole ponzi scheme of a system needs to be reformed.
