Okay they talked about powering off briefly, I still think you could just power it off though..
But as for the why would it want to be misaligned, I asked chatGPT and holy wow. Basically something about prompts and ambiguity, and then its like OK I'll just say never harm humans and harm is harm always, and then it went on a philosophical spiel about cycle of life and yin-yang you have to have harm ie eating one animal to save another
But hey it thinks my job will be safe even in edge case, so hey I'll be fine, my daughter on other hand :/
