@patrickstar5136 As I tried to explain before, obfuscation ≠ learning. It's been demonstrated many times that LLMs are using the actual data they were given, just compressed in weirder way than usual. If I take a song and compress it into a ZIP file, selling that compressed file would still be illegal, even if it came with a lot more songs. But aside from this, it's clear that legally speaking, this doesn't fall under fair use. If an LLM were to be considered as actually learning and creating, does that mean that it would be given rights to "own" things? In that case, does it have OTHER rights, like right to live, right to free speech... right to not be owned by someone else? The obvious answer is no. It is not alive, it does not have rights, and it using someone else's copyrighted material does not fall under fair use. If we ever get to the point where an AI is not only "intelligent", but also SENTIENT and SAPIENT, we will have muuuuuch bigger issues to deal with then whether or not it should be allowed to train on copyrighted content.
