In the “Certification” section of your on-line copyright registration application, you MUST *certify* that all the information you’ve provided, including your deposit (the creative work you’re registering), is correct to the best of your knowledge. If the US Copyright Office approves your application & deposit, you’ll receive your copyright “Certificate of Registration” in the mail. Your issued Certificate, by federal statute, is your *presumptive legal PROOF (via prima-facie EVIDENCE)* of your copyright validity. When someone challenges my copyright authorship or its authenticity, I just email them my Certificate’s registration number and a pinpoint link to the USCO’s on-line Public Catalog database to view my posted registration, and that usually shuts them up. Again, if you knowingly make false statements in your application, the USCO can cancel your registration and the court can order you to pay a fine.
