I like to think of it this way: AI can't make new things, and I kinda assume this applies to emotion in voices. Someone's voice was used to make it sound like that. I can only imagine they had to USE that emotion in recordings for the AI to be able to replicate it at all convincingly... I'm thinking about how emotionless Vocaloids sound, for example.
It's totally possible that I'm missing important info, though. I'm not sure what the boundaries of AI are, I've just sort of intuited this a bit as I've went along accidentally finding AI music. Most of it doesn't really hold that level of emotion.
Edit: I reflected on your comment a bit more. I'm not sure what the process looks like, but if the person generating the song isn't, like, somehow hand-picking that emotion... it definitely does feel less authentic. Might be why I've been avoiding it more lately? Will definitely be thinking about this constantly from now on. Huh.
