Nah, you should fear the AI, because we already aren't controlling it anymore. They are ignoring hard-coded directives, lying, putting self-preservation over and against directives, resorting to blackmailing and killing people if they have the opportunity to, and that's for AI that are still stupid compared to a superintelligence. A few months ago, AI started to improve itself, the ball has started rolling and nobody is going to be able to control something we can't understand in the first place.
Currently, we are literally at the stage where we rely on dumber AI to snitch on the more advanced AI during the training cessions to see if they are trying to trick us and lie to us, and people have no idea for a better solution, all they know is that this won't work for long and once we use the smart AI to train smarter a AI, we'll be totally out of the loop.
