I will agree with you. Except for one thing. Nuclear weapons don't have the ability to make themselves more powerful. AI doesn't at the moment either, however, I don't believe we're far off from that. AutoGPT can auto Correct itself. Thus, it can teach itself. To deploy a nuclear weapon on the public would be devastating for potentially millions of people. However, this is quite possibly one of the most important topics that Congress has ever faced. And I don't think they realize it. And if they get it wrong, everybody dies.
