I think the weird psychedelic era of AI was the closest it got to being actual art tbh. It was at least very thought provoking. I looked at those and thought "wow, it's incredible that this is possible" and also "what made the AI 'think' eighteen legs was the correct number for a human?"
Now I just look at the images and think "oh, it's trying to imitate a real artist but doesn't know how lighting works." Way less interesting.
