I understand what you mean, but the burn out process of writing is part of why I love it so much. I don’t want to spend a week with writing, or a month. I want to spend a year and more of the story haunting me in my head, I want to wake up at night and rush to my notebook to scribble down ideas I would forget otherwise. I want to cry when I write a scene, I want to go through all the stages of horrible imposter-syndrome. I want to giggle at the dialogue one second and find it cringe in the text. That’s what writing is for me. It’s tears, and restless nights, and overthinking and self doubts. AI takes all of the horrible good things away and all I have left is a novel that is not my own. AI can’t tell you what your characters would do in a situation, AI can’t give you the feeling of sucking at what you’re doing. And AI can’t give you the feeling of pride when you’ve written 3.000 words in a day, figured out an important plot point and added a cliche romance scene you love more than anything. But that’s what writing is. Writing is so much more than putting words on a blank page. And only real authors will understand this.
