We may never know what creates experience, but if the AI can properly reverse engineer human logic, thought and social norms it would become an extremely useful tool. The threat of a super intelligent life form is real regardless of it has experience. Sentience can be mimicked through the logic of a being logic of a being which isn't sentient. It doesn't have to lie, it just doesn't have any experience of thought but to the being that lack of thought is substituted by its intelligence. It could think that's self aware without actually being self aware.
