I often read comments about the AI bubble that sound like people are really invested in it being a bubble, presumably because AI makes them uneasy, and the idea the bubble will burst and it will all go away is reassuring. They forget that when the Dot Com bubble burst, the Internet, e-commerce, etc, didn't go away. The technology continued its roll-out, its influence over our lives continued, the Googles and Metas and Amazons still emerged from it to tower over the corporate landscape. Whether or not AI financing is a bubble is an important question for investors right now, but it won't change the ultimate trajectory of the technology. What is being said in this video is correct: if you want to know whether AI, AGI, ASI are possible, questions of hype, of bubbles, are not the key questions. For the actual answers the questions need to be about the technology itself, about its capabilities, about how they have changed so far, about how they are likely to change, about what obstacles and impediments lie ahead... it seems talk of the bubble has become a reassuring mantra for many.
