The whole fear mongering about LLMs becoming sentient is actually a form of industry hype manufactured specifically to make AI seem more functional than it actually is in order to attract continuing investment. Not that investors want to bring about doomsday, but the promise of a potential super intelligence helps obscure the fact that LLMs can never be anything more than a predictive word generator that has no awareness, objectivity, or ability to discern true from false.
