Betch, the problem is that we are inventing "General Intelligence". In the first time in history, we can see slow replacement of human intelligence. It's not about automating one stuff in particular, but everything that comes into the human thought. Pair AI with robots and congratulations, you've made an worker that works 24/7 and doesn't get exhausted, yet still improves their knowledge and learns probably much faster than average people because we aren't even taught in schools how to learn properly.
I know. It feels as if people are still smarter than AI, but look around and you'll find that AI probably surpasses few people already. I think that the key thing to consider is time. Remember that cars were thought of as not a viable alternative for horses? Now they are everywhere and no one owns a horse.
