It cost $7 because they didn't pay any artist, the AI is trained entirely on scrapped data and no one agreed to it. That $7 are going entirely for a company that doesn't care about ethics, nor the artist or consumers. They have no right to profit off of it since it started out as a "research" project, but yet they're proffiting. Also, it's not true that it's at least $100, there have always been a lot of cheap options out there, I'm a professional and I do comissions for as little as $20, and I know a bunch of professional artist that don't charge more than $50 por a simple portrait.
