@jacksonhorrocks4281 Oh, are you literally asking me to give examples of WoT sucking hard? I mean, this wasn't my main argument, but an example, which is why I didn't spin into a tangent to improve it. But there is nothing I love more than sharing the massive disappointment that WoT.
First, every POV character starts with this exact sequence, sometimes repeating it over and over again throughout there arc: The have a judgment feeling about themselves. They recognize it as judgmental. They resolve to think better in the future. So 1) every character has the same functional POV, 2) all interesting conflict is swallowed, so the first half of the book is without conflict except for baddies mostly getting smashed off screen in one POV. 3) Tonally, this is navel gazing cozy novel with multiple POVs, which is out of keeping with the epic origins of the series. Awesome for fan fic! I have believe it was written by AI, and Sanderson doth protest to much.
Structurally. Aside from the complete lack of conflict in the first half of the series, and revolving at least 4 of the 11 or so major points of view to pure exposition for almost the entire length of the fifth book... the big finale, the ending, is so awful and DUMB that Sanderson has to tell you, repeatedly, through multiple characters that it was "Genius!" It was literally the dumbest move one could make, immoral, and counter productive. It's like he's beta readers said: "This is dumb!" And his solution was: I just need to tell them it's smart more. Several times.
The language was so bad it brough me to a halt several times. During a final cataclysm, the most educated artist and visual thinker in the gasp gazes up at the sky, and says "The sky went crazy." Add a superfluous "like" in there and its 100% valley girl. While what actually happened with the sky in the cognitive realm is never actually explained, it turns out that the sky just went normal. No more sweet rows of clouds. Like normal sky. Not only was this vague, cliched valley girl language that did not give the reader any clue what was actually happening, it was out of character, and possibly factually wrong because the sky actually went normal.
Since His issues could fill an epic novel themselves, I'll just stop there.
