Idk about this. Fan art itself isn't legal, but it is considered promotion so many big companies ignore it. Some small audience artists probably disapprove of having their audience taken from them by someone using ai to copy them?
And I've never seen anime that uses characters resembling the "pokemon" style of human characters to where they look as if they belonged in the anime.
This comment makes me wonder why that is. My guess would be fear of a possible legal battle and a small anime studio wouldn't wanna risk $ hiring lawyers etc even if they "could" win against a leviathan that is pokemon/Nintendo, etc.
Chrono trigger uses "dragon ball z style" as does dragon quest, but that's because they hired Akira Toriyama. I just can't see a small studio getting away with making a game copying that style with ai without compensation to the original artist. Somethings gonna happen. Let's just wait and see...
