Is the planet sentient or something? The laws of nature are what they are, yes. But in this situation, the AI will _be_ "nature". Humans have radically reshaped this planet, and superintelligent AI would be able to do so to a significantly greater degree. The planet-mother-goddess isn't going to call down a rain of meteors onto the datacenters just so that a specific species of ape can continue to exist and drink tea.
