Correct on the movie bootlegging not being a direct analogy. The fashion analogy is closer.
A better argument: should people be able to produce and sell work from other people's skills. The answer is no. If you say yes, then you can just start making spins of Windows OS and sell it - legally.
You either have copyright, or you don't.
The simplest, cleanest answer - is the one I noted: they can sell the software like Adobe, Corel, and others, and individual artists can program in their own skills - and aid in production of their work.
Any other way is copyright violation. Or is copyright protection just for the wealthy?
Also, yes - it is true - that noting copyright infringement of other's work is difficult, and prosecution difficult. But it happens in the music industry, fashion industry, and in electronics industry (looking at Apple's track record).
Also, I did spot an AI piece that very closely mimicked an artists work. I assume they put this artist's name in the text input.
