The only time I've seen AI images as useful is for "disposable art". Like quickly needing a token of a character for a oneshot in some new tabletop system. For everything else that's worth caring about, real art is better. You either make it yourself because you care or commision art because it's worth investing in and you get to keep it forever. Meanwhile, AI outputs aren't worth paying for and are easily trashed by the dozens.
