You shouldn't forget that these are just the really big AIs making headlines. There's a lot of open source stuff that normal everyday people can use. If anything, regulation would probably bolster the left wing bias and make it illegal for normal everyday people to develop anything that can counteract it. Aka doing the same thing 99% of regulation ever does - give more power to the government, and f over the people who voted for it.
AI is developing so crazy fast I wouldn't be surprised if in 5 years we have a ChatGPT alternative that anyone can run on his computer and train however he likes. If anything, the big dogs are likely calling for regulation to prevent that from happening. And we'll be left with nothing but censored leftwing propaganda ChatGPT et al.
