T Jam great comment. i used to work for a telecom company during the evening shift 4pm-midnight. i would travel the Chicago suburbs on service calls. I can recall three incidents where bicycles ran stop signs. Of course the riders wore black no reflective tape. I missed them by pure luck since I had no time to react. It is truly amazing how people on bicycles ignore safety. i can say this because I witnessed it night after night.
The death is a tragedy but it is not going to stop autonomous vehicles. Everyone needs to remember cars driven by people have killed more human beings than all the wars since the beginning of time. Like it or not autonomous vehicles are the future.
