Digital artists, or I'd say, ILLUSTRATORS, brings their idea comes true, but using the techniques and skills of digitalized tools. In fact, your statement is just as bleak as "Traditional artists just moves a brush, no work has been done" with no thoughts, whatsoever. A tool aides an artist to bring their creativity to reality, it does not matter if it's just mere pixels or canvases.
While AI generated imagery compresses multiple images to come up with the average result of your wanted elements. This is different from art as a whole and illustrating specifically since the work is just buttons and clicks. It have no personality nor soul, whatsoever.
