in the past yes. Now we run a program that encodes itself and start the snowball downhill.
We still run the programs, but it learns information/ modifies it's own weights to reduce error automatically.
-- we do not program sentences and logical ideas directly into them esp in LLMs, hence trying to interpret aka figure out what their connections mean is tedious or often unknown (esp in transformers).
