1) You don't need to simulate the whole brain. Even for people with cognitively challenging jobs, only about 10% of the brain's energy is spent on "thinking." The rest is just keeping your body running and processing your senses like vision and hearing. An artificial brain doesn't have to simulate all of that.
2) Unless you're suggesting we should start growing farms of millions of human brains in jars, you also need to pay for the human using their brain. Most humans in the US cost around $50-100k annually. That is about 5 million LLM queries per working day in electricity and cooling costs, or about 7000 hours of AI processing time per working day.
AI cannot 100% replace humans today. But when they can, it will almost certainly be cost effective to do so.
