We say that a painting or a statue "looks better" in two cases:
1. perceived effort is higher i.e. we assume that it took a lot of time and effort to do
2. it has a social messaging behind it, using smaller amount of details, but triggering certain emotions within us.
"AI looks better" = It approximated hundreds of works of art to trick your brain into thinking there was some effort put into it.
And no, making better art won't help, because AI will approximate it, the only way forward is to reflect on how AI uses cheap psychological tricks on us and how AI companies manipulate you for profits
