But AI doesn’t ‘steal’ any more than an art student who studies thousands of works to learn techniques or develop a style. It uses vast datasets to detect patterns and generate similar work but doesn’t replicate any single piece directly. While it lacks the emotional spark behind human creativity, it’s a tool that can be used creatively, just like cameras or digital art software once were. That said, there’s definitely a need for clear boundaries to respect artists’ work, and that’s where fair compensation and copyright protection come in.
